Jesus used parables (an earthly story with a heavenly meaning) many times when He was teaching and preaching. The parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus  (Luke 16:19-31), the last verse, He says: “He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’” This parable not only shows us a glimpse of eternity, it also emphasizes a person needs to know what the scriptures says. Either by hearing or reading.
